Luxembourg first to host AIIB Annual Meeting held outside of Asia

Luxembourg and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank share common commitment to promoting sustainable development

Held on 12 and 13 July 2019, the Annual meeting explored “Cooperation and Connectivity”, highlighting the economic and social opportunities afforded by better national and regional connectivity. Leading panelists discussed a number of issues related to sustainable investment including the Future of Sustainable Finance in Asia, Energy Infrastructure in a Decarbonized World, Paris Agreement Commitments as well as Cross-Border Connectivity and the Challenges of Dispute Resolution.

Participation

EFS participated in the 2019 Annual Meeting’s as an exhibitor, joining KPMG, business law firm Wildgen SA, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and the Luxembourg Maritime Administration to showcase the advantages of Luxembourg as a ship registry and ship finance jurisdiction.

Over 1,500 participants from 97 countries participated in Annual Meeting in Luxembourg which brought together the AIIB’s Governors, Directors, management and staff and delegations from members, prospective members, partner institutions, business leaders, civil society and experts from a range of fields.

The Asian Infrastructure Forum (AIF) was also held as part of the 2019 AIIB Annual Meeting. The AIF is a business development event focused on creating connections, developing project pipelines and sharing insights on AIIB’s corporate procurement policies and procedures.
